Learning Objective 1:  Teach architects and the design team appropriate building code requirements and regulations relating to site/civil engineering standards to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Also, develop an understanding of the sustainable aspects of site stormwater management, wastewater treatment and disposal, responsible landscape design to minimize irrigation needs and other site water conservation measures.

Learning Objective 2:  Teach the architect and the design team how the site/civil engineer's role interacts closely with the geotechnical and environmental aspects of a project regarding sustainability, natural and cultural resources, hazardous materials, and other environmental concerns. Discuss typical site/civil engineering design issues and also highlight and compare some relative cost implications based on project experience for the sustainable site design process.

Learning Objective 3:  Instruct the Architect and design team the importance of a fully collaborative design process, highlighting the role of sustainable and regenerative site engineering. Also instruct the design team the importance of the safety and welfare of the public.

Learning Objective 4:  Discuss the iterative process of site layout as it contributes to a project's overall goal of sustainability or regenerative site design. Teach the architect and the design team what the site/civil consultant should do for your project during the design and construction phases regarding construction documents, construction contract administration, specifications, bidding, contract negotiation, and construction, ensuring the safety of the public during construction.
